Stand under construction
Zieta inox steel mirror + Chippensteel 0.5 at Silmo Booth
Stand construction could be also fun and fulfilling exercise . Most of the people accomplish their dreams when building a home, shelter.
It is personal. That is the main reason why is it so difficult to be an architect and work for a client. Human imagination is without boundaries how do we want to create space around us.
That is why our home at the trade show is home designed and homemade, almost.
Going to trade show and bringing own booth is like bringing part of yourself, it is like bringing a home. It is a little home to yourself and to your guests. You will spend few days talking, hosting, showing, entertaining and meeting friends. Getting to know new people, listen, exchange new ideas and interact. It is a part of your personality.
We want to be in the nice space. Feel good and comfortable, present well. \So we take a action to prepare a space which fits our needs.
We love purity and nature. We love art and comfort.
What has more purity than white wood and stainless inox steel? What is more nature than natural, old, recycled , seasoned timber? And what about the contrast?
The art is our imagination which materializes in the object/objects and space. The way we arrange and put together what plays the visual music to the viewer and guest.
Our base is old timber, wide and strong harvested from old barns found in Europe when they can no longer be a shelter for mountain hay. It is mountain old cedar. The one that ships carrying papyrus from Egypt to Phoenicia were built from.
We wanted to add freshness of modern times and virginity of northern aesthetics. Old wood painted in white. This is what we have decided. To get there. That looks magnificent. After a long time of thinking what tables should we use we decided to make them by ourselves. We designed them and choose the widest and the most beautiful old timber sculptured by great creator who is the Time. The Time has done working and sculpturing, painting the palette of tabletop. You may wander for hours examining different adventures with with wind, freeze and sun this wood has experienced in its lifetime. Even the most strenuous artist and craftsman wouldn’t be able reach perfection obtained by time. Nature is superior and unbeatable. We might only help in arranging art created by nature and time.
In order to add a spice and contrast of sophisticated civilization we needed something sharp in taste with strong flavor of art. Our selection among works of art known to us fallen on chairs and other objects designed by Zieta. Design firm which developed world class technology in Zurich, Switzerland to produce furniture for super rich. They have won almost any prize in design. Their objects are displayed in MOMA in NY and tens of other museums world wide. This same technology is used in Jeff Koons sculptures. Purity of white wood, natural timber met with shiny, steel pumped chairs. We added few mirrors which were produced by them in collaboration with us in this same technology and were just left with task of selecting images for the booth.
As usual , we always take a huge effort to produce twice a year outstanding images for our campaigns. This time SS14 campaign is soft and innocent. A group of female friends gather for weekend and enjoy comfort of rural landscape by the lake. Outstanding images selected by us You will be able to see in Milan at MIDO in our booth. We will also have for you pure mountain mineral water to calm Your thirst and to purify your mind.
Images are framed in bold, wide milky yellow color……..?
What that means? Where doesn’t come from ….?
Interpretation is Yours … even though to give You a hint.. the word leading to is
The first was felt, we have just fallen in love with warmth and beauty of the non woven fabric. The story of Saint Clement and Saint Christopher fleeing from persecution and accidentally producing first felt in history just added to our affection for the material to be a Safe House for our eyewear. The second was leather, we love our experience with this naturally colored material used in our eyewear cases. The result , after endless drawings and production trials was new set of felt and leather eye wear cases designed by Kate and produced by Massada.
Then, there was enlightening idea of giving dignity and recognition to the objects of beauty. What to do?
Names. Something new and fresh, different from flavor of frames names but complimentary ready to join family of surreal world of imagination.
Eyewear Case? So then Case Officer….. Cover? So then Cover Story or Covert Action. Here we are. Adding to consistency intelligence jargon comes to mind, Safe House, Brush Contact.
What would be the link to the frames? Apart from from idea that felt and leather provides shelter to it. Since we like cinema, film and stories let make story out of it! With the beautiful women of course.
Belle de Jour day working swallow. Just to explain; swallows are under cover agents employed by intelligence services to use very powerful weapon, sex (sometimes the most powerful ) to get what they need. Americans, British and especially Russians do it. In the old days there was even a special school near Moscow to train them; well…in skills.
So we understand that French also do it or at least they might do it. Therefore Honey Trap (sex trap) could be set in Swallow Nest.
How to present a story? Reach audience?
Our imagination is bubbling with grand ideas which may eat not a single Hollywood budget but budgets of few super super productions with star casting and incredible locations. But yet, we are not ready to finance next “Titanic” production yet for the need of off mainstream eye wear fashion brand.
It happens that Kate , who is Art Academy graduate knows a lot arty types individuals who deal with different visual forms. Calling few guys produced incredible results. We found Mat who does drawing for different newspapers worldwide. When we saw his works we knew that this is it.
It is gonna be comics book.
The rest was a story, funny one and as close to truth and as surrealistic as possible. Decision was intuitive to location with Montparnasse quoter in Paris where we always stay and enjoy that part of the city. Hours spent in Cafe Odessa finally are producing dividends in free location casting. Oysters and terrines which we buy passionately in the Fruits de Mer shop at Rue Daguerre are used this time. Even though we do not frequent Swallow Nests over there, the area of Gare de Montparnasse has its own share of pink business near the railway station.
We just met tonight with Mat to discuss the work. It is a Great Fun!
„Like the water, the Walden ice, seen near at hand, has a green tint, but at a distance is beautifully blue, and you can easily tell it from the white ice of the river, or the merely greenish ice of some ponds, a quarter of a mile off. Sometimes one of those great cakes slips from the ice-man’s sled into the village street, and lies there for a week like a great emerald, an object of interest to all passers. I have noticed that a portion of Walden which in the state of water was green will often, when frozen, appear from the same point of view blue. So the hollows about this pond will, sometimes, in the winter, be filled with a greenish water somewhat like its own, but the next day will have frozen blue. Perhaps the blue color of water and ice is due to the light and air they contain, and the most transparent is the bluest. Ice is an interesting subject for contemplation. They told me that they had some in the ice-houses at Fresh Pond five years old which was as good as ever. Why is it that a bucket of water soon becomes putrid, but frozen remains sweet forever? It is commonly said that this is the difference between the affections and the intellect. „
Kate and Chris in MASSADA Limited Edition carnival costume party:)
Barbie & Ken costume party making instructions.
1) First, determine the specific Barbie & Ken you want to create and find an outfit identical to Barbie & Ken’s. Ours was of course MASSADA LIMITED EDITION.
2) Find a perfect Barbie Outfit. The best colors are pink, purple, green, turquoise and yellow. For makeup Kate used pink eye shadow, pink lips & dramatic eyelashes. We bought also on the internet 2 wigs.
3) Find a big box a cut a “window” and cut off the bottom part of the box for your feet.
4) Purchase 9 bottles of spray. (4-5 bottles for each box). It takes about 2 hours to dry.
We bought 1 blue, 3 light pink and 5 dark pink. We used blue to paint the inside box for Ken.
5) Next, download a Barbie and Ken font, Mattel logo and all the extra needed for your edition.
We gave them to our friend you printed them on foil.
6) Now it’s time to make some straps! Get inside the box and measure the distance between your shoulders and place marks inside the box for each shoulder. Underneath each shoulder mark place another mark where your armpit stops. Cut tiny triangles through the box where you made your marks. Put ribbon between both of the holes and make knots on the back of the box.
